Frequently asked Questions: For Buskers

Q)   Can anyone participate in the Noosa Regional Busking Championship ?
A)   Yes the competition is open to anyone. It is a family event structured with categories to promote music and entertainment across all ages.  For those wishing to participate who are under 16, we do require the consent of a parent or guardian.

The Busking spots along the river are typically accessible to accommodate performers who may have specific mobility needs.  Please contact us if there are concerns or questions

Q)   Can you participate in more than one regional competitions e.g. Noosa and Stanthorpe ?
A)   Absolutely the more the merrier.

Q)  Are there any restrictions on the type of performance ?
A)  Please consider that
  • The championship is public and needs to be family friendly.
  • Space is also limited at each of the busking spots to ~25 Sq. metres.
  • Power (e.g. for amplification) may not always be available.
Within these constraints we welcome your creativity !   Please contact us if there are concerns or questions

Q) What is the cut-off date for registering to perform ?
A) June 2nd is the final cut-off date, but of course the planning and coordination of the event  is made much easier if you can register earlier.

Q) Is there an age limit ?
A)   No – please see above

Q) How much does it cost to participate ?
A)   $20 for each participant.  For Groups there is a maximum fee of $50.

Q) How long and how often can I perform ?
A)   Performances are typically 30 minute slots, 4 performances a day.  Buskers can however elect how many slots they are willing to perform and when they can perform. For fairness to the Buskers and our Sponsors, the Buskers will be required to follow a rotation schedule.

Q) What equipment can I bring – is power provided ?
A)   Within the space constraint and the time needed to set up and close down, please feel free to bring what you need.  We will strive to provide power where we can and juggle the busking slots to accommodate each performer's need.  However we cannot guarantee that power will be available in all locations (another reason that we rotate performances).

Q) What happens if it rains ?
A)  As all good entertainers know – the show must go on !
Clearly safety is paramount and the organizers will be monitoring conditions and in the event of extreme weather may have to change or even cancel the schedule.

Frequently asked Questions: For Sponsors

Q)   Can anyone Sponsor an award ?
A)   Yes the competition is open to all. Your role in supporting the local community, the performers and local charities will be acknowledged through local and surrounding media outlets including newspaper & radio.

Sponsorship can be through sponsoring a Busking Spot, a Busking Prize or a Package of prizes.

Our organisers would be happy to walk through this, please contact us by phone or email; details are on the CONTACT page.

Q)  Can the sponsorship be goods or services in kind – rather than cash ?
A)  Cash is always King.  Many of our performers will travel from afar to the event and or are possibly of an age where they might be unable to benefit from goods or services in kind.  So yes cash is very much preferred.  For the larger prizes however, goods or service would also be welcome.

Please contact the organizers if you would like to sponsor through goods and services

Q)  How can I pay ?
A)   Please complete the form - “Invitation to Host a Busking Spot”, that can found on the SPONSORS page (or by clicking on the button above). A cheque can be attached or a bank transfer made to the Rotary Club of Noosa Heads, account details are on the form.

Q) Can I be specific in which category I sponsor ?
A)   Yes Sponsorship can be through sponsoring a Busking Spot, a Busking Prize or a Package of prizes.

Q) Am I tied to one of the packages listed ?
A)   No there is plenty of flexiblity. Please contact us and we can discuss options.

A)   Yes your sponsorship will be acknowledged through
  • local & surrounding media outlets including newspaper & radio
  • ANBC website and social media sites
  • inclusion of your business logo on promotional and advertising materials
  • the opportunity to display business banners and signs on stage at the finals concert

Q) Can I advertise at the national level across all regional competitions ?
A)   National Sponsorship would be handled by the Australian National Busking Championships.  Please contact the organisers and we would be happy to make arrangements to facilitate these discussions.
